Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Mt. SAC Men's Water Polo Team made waves as they kicked off the 2025 season with a strong showing at the Rare Air Challenge, hosted by the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs from August 29-31.

After a narrow 18-17 loss to Ottawa University of Arizona in the opener, the Mounties bounced back with three straight wins — defeating Denver (18-13), Air Force (16-15), and Peak (20-17) — to close out the weekend with a 3-1 record.

In their first game, Mt. SAC came up just short in a high-scoring battle with Ottawa University of Arizona, falling 18-17. Jacob Carlson led the Mounties with four goals, while Benjamin Trull added three. Goalkeeper Michael Hale recorded 13 saves, with Tyler Johnson adding five in relief.

The Mounties responded in Game 2 with an 18-13 victory over Denver. Carlson once again led the way with four goals, while Diego Solis and Trull each added three. Mt. SAC surged late with seven goals in the final period to pull away and secure their first win of the season.

Game 3 featured a thrilling 16-15 win over the U.S. Air Force Academy. Trevor Davis had a breakout performance, scoring six goals to lead all players and Paco Lopez added three goals. Hale anchored the defense with nine saves, helping seal the team's second win of the weekend.

Mt. SAC closed out the tournament with a 20-17 victory over Peak. While official stats for that game were not yet posted, the Mounties capped off a successful weekend with their third straight win.
