Coach John Martin has joined the Mt. SAC Softball coaching staff as an outfield coach, recruiting coordinator and graphic designer. With over a decade of coaching experience and a proven record of success, Coach Martin brings a dynamic and well-rounded skill set to the Mountie program.
Over the course of his career, Martin has coached more than 500 games without a single losing season as a head coach. He is widely recognized for building one of the country's top travel ball programs, earning a national ranking as high as No. 14. His teams have consistently demonstrated excellence on the field, backed by Martin’s .800 winning percentage and exceptional player development approach.
A former collegiate athlete and Hall of Fame basketball inductee, Martin combines his athletic background with a deep focus on the mental side of the game. His coaching philosophy prioritizes preparation, resilience, and a high-performance mindset, attracting top talent from across the country.
As a recruiter, Coach Martin boasts a 100% success rate, placing student-athletes in competitive college programs. He also built and directed a thriving travel organization with over 110 players, many of whom have advanced to the collegiate level. His ability to mentor, develop, and showcase talent has made him a respected figure in both the softball and broader athletic communities.
In addition to his coaching accolades, Martin is deeply involved in community outreach and youth development programs. His passion for the game and commitment to giving back continue to nurture the next generation of players.
His daughter is a Division I shortstop at Canisius University, continuing the family’s strong athletic tradition and love for the game.
