Mt. SAC Athletics Takes Lead In The NATYCAA Cup Standings

(Walnut, CA)  After capturing two state championships in Basketball, Mt. SAC Athletics takes the lead in the 2012-13 National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup Standings.  Since its inception, Mt. SAC has captured two championships, 5 second place, one fourth place and one sixth place honor in the NATYCAA Cup Championship which recognizes excellence in community college athletics.

Mt. SAC takes the lead with 129 points, with last years NATYCAA Cup Champion, Fresno City College, in second place with 110.5 points and conference rival, Cerritos College, in third place with 109 points.  Each college can receive a maximum of 20 points per sport (directly proportioned to their final finish position at the state/regional championships) and can only score with their best 5 men's and best 5 women's sport finishes.   

The Mt. SAC Spring Sports are fairing extremely well this season.  Strong finishes at the championship levels could propel the Mounties to their 3rd NATYCAA Cup Championship.  Below is a quick update on each Spring Program:

Baseball
The team is currently 15-8.  A strong April could propel them to their second consecutive South Coast Conference Championship.

Softball
The Mounties are 23-3 and are currently ranked #2 in Southern California and #3 in the state.

Men's and Women's Track and Field
The teams are improving each week and have defeated a number of 4-year programs in dual meet competition.  The Mounties look to finish strong in the post season with a number of outstanding individuals.

Men's and Women's Swimming
Mountie Aquatics is having another banner year with each team undfeated in dual meet competition.  Both teams have one more double dual match to remain undefeated and take the conference dual meet championship. 

Men's and Women's Tennis
The Men's Tennis team is having a much improved year with a record of 8-4 and women's team is continuing their conference domination with a record of 12-1-1.
