On Sunday the Mounties defeated Long Beach City College, 74-51, for the championship in their own Linda G. Smith Memorial Tip-Off Tournament on the Walnut campus.
Leading the way for the Mounties was freshman forward Jade Hughes (8 RB) with a season-high 22 points (10 of 13).
Freshman guard Dominique McLaughlin added 12 points, while sophomore guard Maddeline Dopplick was a perfect 3 for 3 from beyond the arc for nine points.
Sophomore forward Kali Jones led all players with 13 rebounds and the Mounties, as a team, totaled 49.
Defensively, Allyah Dickson had 3 blocked shots, 2 steals and 4 defensive rebounds and was 6 of 9 at the charity stripe.
Mt. SAC took advantage of 24 Vikings turnovers, scoring 27 points. In addition, they had 37 bench points.
The Mounties play at Fullerton on Tuesday November 15 and at the Ventura College Tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend, beginning Friday.
