A DECADE OF DOMINANCE

(Walnut, CA)  For the third time, since its inception ten years ago, Mt. SAC Athletics has once again captured the National Association of Two-Year College Athletic Administrator (NATYCAA) Cup Championship with 177.5 points.  This point total is the highest achieved in the 10 year span of the award. Created to honor the state’s most outstanding two-year college athletics programs, Mt. SAC Athletics has consistently finished among the top teams in the state.  No other college has scored more points, been in the top 2 more times or captured more NATYCAA CUP Titles (3, tied with Fresno City College) than the Mounties.

During the 2012-13 Season, State Championships (20 points) were captured by the Men’s Soccer Team, Men’s Basketball Team and Women’s Basketball Team.  Additional points were scored by the Wrestling Team (2nd place-19 points), Men’s Track and Field Team (2nd place-19 Points), Football Team (3rd place-17.5 points) , Women’s Track and Field (4th place- 17.0 points),Women’s Cross Country (5th place-16.0 points),  Softball (Super Regional Finalist-14.5 points) and Women’s Tennis (Regional Finalist-14.5 points)

In NATYCAA Cup scoring, each college is allowed to use points from their 5 highest scoring men’s and 5 highest scoring women’s sports (200 maximum).  Each individual sport can earn a maximum of 20 (state championship = 20 points) NATYCAA Cup points based upon their final championship finish position.
