Mounties Bring the Heat in Season Opener Sweep

Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team opened their 2025 season with an impressive straight-set sweep over Glendale College, winning 25-15, 25-9, and 25-23 at home on Friday, August 22.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mounties came out strong in the first set, notching 14 kills on 30 attempts for a .267 hitting percentage to take the opener 25-15.

Shaking off any first-game nerves, Mt. SAC elevated their game in the second set, dominating the court with 15 kills on just 22 swings for a blazing .636 hitting percentage in a 25-9 rout.

The third set proved more competitive, but the Mounties held their composure to edge out a 25-23 win and complete the sweep. With a comfortable lead, the coaching staff took the opportunity to experiment with different rotations and strategies.

Statistically, Mt. SAC outperformed Glendale across the board. The Mounties racked up 43 kills on 93 attempts for a .312 team hitting percentage, while holding the Vaqueros to just 19 kills on 90 attempts and a negative hitting percentage (-.078). On defense, Mt. SAC recorded 43 digs and dominated at the net with a staggering 17 blocks to Glendale's one.

With a strong showing on both offense and defense, the Mounties made a clear statement about their potential for the season ahead.
