
Phoenix, Ariz. – In their first game of the 2025 season, the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team battled to a hard-fought 3-3 tie on the road against Phoenix College on Friday, August 22.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mounties got off to a strong start when Eden Ramirez scored in the 19th minute, capitalizing on an assist from Samantha Sanchez to give Mt. SAC an early 1-0 lead. The Bears quickly responded, leveling the score in the 24th minute.
Mt. SAC regained the advantage in the 33rd minute as Yuliana Jimenez found the net with help from Zophia Romero. However, Phoenix answered just before halftime, sending both teams into the break tied at 2-2.
The second half saw Phoenix take their first lead of the match in the 55th minute, but the Mounties kept their composure. Ramirez struck again in the 85th minute, securing her second goal of the game and salvaging a well-earned draw for Mt. SAC.
Goalkeeper Zanette Gonzalez made a strong impact between the posts, recording eight saves to help preserve the tie. The Mounties finished the match with nine shots on target, converting three.
NEXT UP:
Mt. SAC returns to action on Friday, August 29, as they host the Nike/Azteca Soccer Tournament. The Mounties will face off against Lake Tahoe (1-0) in their first home game of the season at 5:00 PM. Come out and show your support!
