Women's Soccer narrowly defeats Compton, prepares to take on Rio Hondo for division title

(Walnut, CA) On Sophomore Night, Alyssa Williams scored an unassisted goal late in the first half to break a 1-1 tie, giving host Mt. SAC (12-2-3, 7-0-1) an eventual 2-1 South Coast Conference win over Compton (5-5-3, 3-4-1) on Friday.

Audrie Mahassel scored the Mounties' first goal, an unassisted effort in the seventh minute to put the host team up, 1-0.

In goal, Gabrielle Leon (five minutes, one save) and Leila Peregrina (85 minutes, three saves) combined in the victory.

Next up for the Mounties is a matchup with Rio Hondo (13-1, 7-1) for the SCC North title in Whittier on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m. The Roadrunners are currently ranked No. 5 in the state and Mt. SAC is tied for No. 12 with Ventura.
