Big Buckets, Big Wins for Mt. SAC Women’s Basketball at LA Valley College Tournament

Valley Glen, Calif. – At Buddy's All-Star Classic hosted by Los Angeles Valley College from December 11-13, the Mt. SAC Women's Basketball Team made a statement and showed no mercy. The Mounties had their highest scoring game of the season, held every opponent under 50 points, and walked away with a perfect 3–0 weekend. With the sweep, Mt. SAC improves to an impressive 12–1 on the year.

GAME 1: Mt. SAC 91, Ventura 46

The Mounties opened the tournament in dominant fashion, showcasing depth and firepower from top to bottom. Starters Dylan Tse and Taliyah McFerson led the way with 19 points apiece. Tse knocked down three shots from beyond the arc and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line, while McFerson added 10 rebounds to secure a double-double.

Makayla Haddock provided a big spark off the bench, scoring 16 points as Mt. SAC cruised to a 45-point victory. Ventura's Charnelle Nichols was the lone Pirate in double figures with 10 points and three rebounds.

Mt. SAC controlled every aspect of the game, shooting an outstanding 68.5% from the field while holding Ventura to 32.8%. The Mounties also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Pirates 41–19.

GAME 2: Mt. SAC 97, Cypress 44

The Mounties followed up with their highest-scoring game of the season, firing on all cylinders against Cypress. McFerson was unstoppable, pouring in 25 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to anchor both ends of the floor.

Tse added a well-rounded performance with 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, and a steal, while Elizabeth Udeze filled the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds, 12 assists, and three steals. Naomi Acuna chipped in 12 points, and Haddock added 14 off the bench as five Mounties reached double figures.

Mariah Henderson led Cypress with 14 points, followed by Angelina Bado with 10, while Marina Interiano pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

Once again, Mt. SAC overwhelmed its opponent, shooting 66.1% from the field and winning the rebounding battle 45–27.

GAME 3: Mt. SAC 78, San Diego Mesa 49

Even in their lowest-scoring game of the tournament, the Mounties left no doubt, closing out the weekend with a 29-point win over San Diego Mesa. McFerson continued her standout play, leading all scorers with 25 points and collecting 16 rebounds.

Janessa Rodriguez stepped up with 15 points and five rebounds, while Tse and Udeze combined for 21 points. Four of the five Mt. SAC starters finished in double figures.

Stevie Lundquist paced the Olympians with 18 points, and Valerie Marquez pulled down 10 rebounds.

Mt. SAC controlled the game across the stat sheet, holding advantages in field goal percentage, free throw shooting, rebounds, points off turnovers, points in the paint, and fastbreak scoring.
