Football closes out regular season with convincing win over San Bernardino Valley

(Walnut, CA) In a non-conference matchup originally scheduled for Sept. 18, host Mt. SAC (7-3) defeated San Bernardino Valley College, 52-21, on Saturday to close out both teams' regular season schedules.

The Mounties scored first and often to open up a 21-0 lead before the Wolverines (3-7) scored to cut the lead to 21-7 through one quarter. The second quarter was all Mt. SAC as the hosts opened up a 38-7 lead by halftime. The teams played to a draw in the second half, resulting in the final score of 52-21.

Alex Flores led the Mounties' offensive attack with 256 yards on 21-of-30 passing with three touchdowns. Ike Udengwu III also had a touchdown pass on 5-of-6 passing for 69 yards.

Udengwu III also led the team in rushing with 68 yards on nine carries while teammate Nicholas Floyd tallied 31 yards on six carries with a touchdown.

Shemar Savage (five catches, 69 yards, one touchdown) and Jaden Allen (five catches, 67 yards) were the top receivers for Mt. SAC. Trenton Finley (two catches, 30 yards, two touchdowns) and Dranel Rhodes (two catches, 22 yards, one touchdown) also had notable receiving performances for the Mounties.

Mt. SAC, which finished with a 2-3 National Central Conference record, now awaits the announcement of bowl and playoff pairings.
