(COVINA) An all-out offensive explosion was on display at Covina District Field Saturday night between visiting Fullerton College and Mt. San Antonio College in a nonconference game. With a combined total of seven touchdown passes between both quarterbacks, the Hornets defeated Mt. SAC, 56-35, to remain undefeated in nonconference action.

Trailing 42-28 early in the fourth quarter, Mt. SAC (2-2) sophomore defensive back Michael Johnson (Champagnat HS, Miami, FL) intercepted a Fullerton College pass and one play later sophomore quarterback Anfernee Bruton (Lithonia HS, Atlanta, GA) threw a 26-yard pass to sophomore tight end Alvin Pole'o (East HS, Anchorage, AK) to bring the Mounties within a touchdown, 42-35.

However, that was the closest the Mounties would get as the Hornets went on to score two more TDs in the quarter.

Trailing by three scores, 35-14, in the third quarter the quick-strike Mounties offense scored twice on only five plays to trail by a touchdown, 35-28.

Sophomore wide receiver Kennedy Sykes (Lakewood HS) caught a 13-yarder from Bruton and freshman receiver Tommie Dorsey (Colony HS) hauled in a 55-yard TD reception.

In the game Bruton was 14 for 32 for 218 yards, ran for a 7-yard score and threw three TD passes, while Dorsey caught two passes for a game-high 90 yards. Sykes caught five passes for 56 yards.
On the ground the Mounties gained only 24 yards rushing, while Fullerton had 188 yards.
Fullerton (4-0) quarterback Jordan Hoy had a game-high 317 yards passing (21 for 33, 1 INT) and four TDs.

Mt. SAC freshman receiver Quadir Albright (Buena Regional HS, Atlantic City, NJ) led all kickoff returners with five returns for 129 yards for a 25.8 average.

Defensively for the Mounties, sophomore linebacker Kyle Woolard-Hilton (Desert Edge HS, Goodyear, AZ) had two sacks for a minus 14 yards, while sophomore defensive back Reginald Young (Glendora HS) blocked a Fullerton punt for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Sophomore kicker Brandon Gracia (Ayala HS), who missed on a long 56-yard field goal attempt, however, averaged 44 yards per punt and dropped the ball inside the 20 three times in the game.

Mt. SAC will travel to Orange Coast College for a 6:00 p.m. game Saturday October 1.
