Ryan Doran enters his third season as the Mounties Pitching Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.

In 2018, Ryan's pitchers helped guide the baseball program to a 35-14 record, a South Coast Conference Championship and their first CCCAA Final Four Appearance since 1965.  Since his arrival, the pitching staff has seen significant improvements in all statistical categories including team ERA, wins, strikeouts and walks allowed. Ryan is credited for developing All-American/All-State relief pitcher Zach Bromstead, All-State starting pitcher, Mason Corneliussen, and consecutive South Coast Conference Pitchers of the Year, Jacob Kampen (2018) and Josh Avila (2017).  Ten of his past protege's have continued their education and baseball careers at the NCAA and NAIA levels.

For the past two summers, Ryan has also served as the pitching coach for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball League.

Prior to his Mt. SAC coaching career, Ryan was a right-handed pitcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks Organization (3 years), reaching as a high as double A ball in Mobile, Alabama.  While with the Diamondbacks, Ryan compiled a career record of 22 wins and 8 losses with a 3.12 ERA.  During his professional career, Ryan captured 2013 Northwest League Championship with the Hillsboro Hops, was a two-time Northwest League Pitcher of the Week (2015), Mid-Season All-Star (2015), was the California League leader in WHIP (2015, 3rd in ERA) and produced a career 5 to 1 strikeout ration in over 300 innings pitched.

Ryan began his collegiate career at Orange Coast College (starting pitcher/middle infielder) under long time head coach, John Altobelli for two seasons.  After OCC, he transferred to San Diego State University (SDSU), where he played two seasons for head coach and MLB Hall of Famer, the late, Tony Gwynn.  A two-year weekend starter for the Aztecs, Ryan played a key role in the Aztecs’ 2013 Mountain West Conference Championship and first regional playoff appearance since 2009.   That season, he earned First Team All-Mountain West Conference Honors and was an All-MWC Tournament Team Performer.  During both of his seasons for SDSU, Ryan earned team Pitcher of the Year honors (2012, 2013).

Ryan received his BA in Public Administration from SDSU and his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine.

Ryan currently resides in Orange, CA.
