Johnny Salcido returned back to his alma mater in 2019 to coach the Mountie Running Backs. After attending Mt. SAC in 2008, Salcido joined the U.S. Army, becoming a decorated veteran Airborne Infantryman who was deployed to Afghanistan between December of 2009 through September of 2010. He served the country until his honorable discharge in 2011 and returned back to the Mt. SAC and the football program 2015.
Salcido prepped at South Hills High School (West Covina, CA) before attending Mt. SAC. During his first stint at Mt. SAC, he played defensive back for the 2008 SoCal Champion Football Team. After returning back from his military service, he once again attended Mt. SAC and played on the 2015 conference and Patriot Bowl Championship team, where he played fullback.
Currently employed as a union carpenter, Salcido is proud that he personally worked on the foundation forms of new Hilmer Lodges Stadium, including the parking lot/tennis courts structure.
Salcido and his wife Veronica reside in Rowland Heights (CA) with their children, Liliana, Johnny, Josiyah and Ariyah. In his spare time, he enjoys power lifting and gaming.
