
(Whittier, CA) After dropping the opening set, Mt. SAC (18-5, 12-3) bounced back to take the next three to defeat host Rio Hondo (8-15, 6-10) by the score of 3-1 (22-25, 25-7, 25-19, 25-9) in a South Coast Conference matchup on Friday. The win is the Mounties' sixth straight and twelfth of the last 13.
Top performers for Mt. SAC included Riley DeGroot (20 kills, 14 digs, three service aces), Riannel Arevalo (19 digs), and JJ Quarrels (10 kills, seven digs). Additionally, Ally Euston (seven digs), Bristol Christelman, and Arevalo had two service aces each.
Currently in second place in the SCC standings behind Pasadena (19-1, 14-0) and one game ahead of El Camino (13-12, 11-4), the Mounties will close out their regular-season schedule at East Los Angeles College (4-15, 1-13) on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. The SCC Tournament will begin on Friday, Nov. 12. Pairings have yet to be announced.
