Volleyball Suffers only the Second Loss of the Season vs El Camino in a Crossover Match.

(WALNUT) For only the second time this season the Mountie women volleyball team suffered a loss, a 3-0 sweep in a crossover match at the hands of El Camino College Friday night at Mt. SAC.
 
On a night dedicated to "Breast Cancer Awareness", Mt. SAC lost 25-12, 25-21, 25-10.
 
Mt. SAC, with the loss is 13-2 overall, while El Camino, which is in first in the South Coast Conference South, improves to 14-3.
 
El Camino, ranked 10th in the state, won a record 40th straight conference match.
Leading the way for Mt. SAC was sophomore outside hitter Makenzie Thieme with seven kills.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Haley English had five kills and sophomore Erica Gumz added three. English also added eight digs.
 
Sophomore setter Carolina Urquieta had 14 assists, while freshman libero Brianna Elias and Urquieta had nine digs apiece.
 
The Mounties, ranked 19th in the state, managed only three kills in the first game against El Camino, but came alive with 11 in the second game, but still fell, 25-21.
 
The Warriors ended the sweep with a 25-10 third-game result to send the Mounties to only their second loss of the season.
 
The Mounties will host L.A. Trade Tech this Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. with a tribute to "80's night". Everyone come on out and find those leisure suits from the back of the closet!!!!!
