Mounties Place Fourth Among 22 Teams at Cuesta Super Invite

San Luis Obispo, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Swim and Dive team delivered a strong performance at the three-day Cuesta Super Invite, finishing fourth overall out of 22 colleges with a total score of 539 points. American River captured first place with 1001 points, followed by Long Beach City in second with 951 and Santa Barbara City College in third with 615.5.

The Mounties turned in an impressive weekend in the pool, collecting three gold medals, nine silver medals, and two bronze medals across the meet. Mt. SAC recorded 114 total entries, producing 37 personal-best times and 10 season-best performances as the team continued to build momentum during the season.

Leading the way for the Mounties was standout swimmer Spencer Damaske, who delivered an exceptional all-around performance throughout the meet. Damaske earned three first-place finishes in the 100-yard IM (1:02.31), 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.29), and 200-yard IM (2:15.06). She also added five runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.22), 50-yard breaststroke (32.55), 200-yard backstroke (2:16.10), 50-yard butterfly (28.38), and 200-yard butterfly (2:20.67), along with a third-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (30.41) to cap an impressive weekend.

Autumn Moya also contributed a podium finish for the Mounties, placing second in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:22.21 in the distance event.

Mt. SAC also saw strong performances in the relay events. The Mt. SAC A team of Eden Buell, Spencer Damaske, Emily Robertson, and Autumn Moya placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.58. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Mounties made a big impact as both the Mt. SAC A and B teams tied for second place with matching times of 1:47.38. The A team featured Emily Robertson, Ava Mercado, Autumn Moya, and Jessica Luna, while the B team consisted of Spencer Damaske, Kieran Kirkwood Sturzenacker, Megan Venegas, and Eden Buell.

Overall, the Mounties delivered a solid performance against a deep field of programs from across the state, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and a number of personal-best swims.

The Mounties will host Cerritos and Rio Hondo for a conference meet on Friday, March 13, beginning at 9:00 AM.
