Ramos, Kennedy, Fast lead Mt. SAC Women’s Swim team to double dual wins over American and Los Positas

(Livermore, CA) A successful start to the 2024 Women's Swim season opened with victories over American River and host Los Positas colleges on Friday, January 26.

The Mounties defeated American River, 169-79, and Los Positas, 151-93.

Mt. SAC won all three relay races, along with four individual events, and concluded with five second-place finishes and five third-place finishes.

Forty-nine swimmers competed in the double dual.

"We saw some great swims from freshmen, Paige Fast, Genevieve Niko, and Elleanna Ramos, and some great relay swims as well," Mt. SAC Swimming coach Marc Ruh said. "The women's team is very balanced."

Leading the way for the Mounties was Ramos with first-place finishes in the 100 Butterfly and 50 Freestyle. She was also a member of the 200 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay, and 400 Free Relay.

Kennedy (100 IM) and Fast (200 Free) each won an individual event. Fast was also one member of all three relay wins, while Kennedy was a member of the 200 Free Relay.

Fast and Kennedy also placed second in the 100 Back and 200 IM, respectively.

Other highlights: Genevieve Niko (100 Free, 2nd, 50 Free, 2nd); Madison Dorsey (500 Free, 2nd, 100 Free, 200 IM, 3rd); Jasmine Matsuda (100 Fly, 3rd); Aniela Sabadin (100 Breast, 100 IM, 3rd) and Shauna Mercado (200 Free, 3rd).

The Mounties take a break before competing in the South Coast Conference Penthalon at El Camino College on Friday, February 9.
