Mountie Women's Swimming and Diving takes second at Riverside Invitational

(Riverside, CA) With 590 points, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Swimming and Diving team took second place at the Riverside City College Invitational on Friday, April 7. Host Riverside finished in first with 602 points and San Diego Mesa College came in third with 414.

In a field of eight schools and 80 competitors, the Mounties took first in one event, second in eight, and third in three.

Lexis Brattain (100 back) accounted for Mt. SAC's lone first-place finish of the meet.

Second-place finishes for the Mounties came from Laila Topinio (1650 free, 500 free), the 200 medley relay A squad, Lexis Brattain (200 back), Isabell Ortega (200 fly), Madison Dorsey (100 free), Melissa Chavez (100 breaststrokes), and the 400 free relay A squad.

Brianna Solis (1M diving), Julia De La Garza (200 fly), and Melissa Chavez (200 breaststroke) turned in third-place performances for Mt. SAC.

The Mounties will next compete in the South Coast Conference and SoCal Diving Championships at El Camino College on Friday, April 14, and the SCC Swimming Championships at East Los Angeles College on Thursday through Saturday, April 20-22.
