Women Swimming and Diving Team Places Fifth at Pasadena Invitational

(Pasadena, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Swimming and Diving team began their final preparations for the post season with a fifth-place finish in the 17th Annual Pasadena Invitational, competing against 19 Southern California community colleges Friday and Saturday at Pasadena City College.

Santa Barbara City College won the event and South Coast Conference rival PCC finished in fourth, ahead of the Mounties.

The Mounties will now their sights to next weekends' SCC/Regional Diving championships at El Camino College and the conference championships April 20-22 at the Marie T. Mills Aquatic Center at Mt. SAC.

Kaitlyn Dickinson led Mt. SAC with a second in the 200 Butterfly (2:18.78), just over a second out of first place.

The sophomore, who totaled the most individual points (66) for the Mounties in five events, also had four fifth-place finishes.

Jerica Djapri added 57 points for the Mounties, including a third and fourth in the 100 Backstroke (1:04.47) and 200 Individual Medley (2:25.63), respectively. The freshman was less than 2 seconds out of first in the backstroke.

Freshman Haley Service placed third and fourth respectively in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
