Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team continued their undefeated run with a 3-1 victory over MiraCosta on Friday, September 12. The win marks the Mounties' third straight victory, improving their overall record to 3-0-3 (.750 winning percentage) and placing them atop the South Coast Conference North Division standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mountie offense had a dominant first half, scoring all three of their goals in the first 33 minutes of the game.
Forward Eden Ramirez opened the scoring in the 7th minute, finishing off a setup from Yuliana Jimenez. Just four minutes later, Jimenez added a goal of her own in the 11th minute, this time off an assist from Nisa Rueda.
Ramirez struck again in the 33rd minute to secure her second goal of the night, capping off a smooth Mountie attack with a well-placed pass from Sofia Torres, giving Mt. SAC a comfortable 3-0 lead going into halftime.
The second half shifted to a more defensive tone as both teams battled to maintain control. MiraCosta managed to break through in the 75th minute, spoiling the Mounties' shutout bid, but Mt. SAC maintained control to see out the win.
Overall, the Mounties controlled much of the match, recording 10 shots on goal, converting three of them, and keeping pressure on the Spartan defense throughout. On the other end, Mt. SAC goalkeeper Zanette Gonzalez made three saves on four shots faced to help secure the win.
