Walnut, Calif. – After a slow start to the season, the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team turned things around, finishing the regular season with a remarkable 14-5-3 overall record and an undefeated 9-0 record in conference play. The South Coast Conference released their 2024 honorees and the Mounties earned multiple awards.
Sophomore defender Tiana Egland earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, serving as the cornerstone of a defense that recorded 13 shutouts throughout the season. Adding to the accolades, sophomore goalkeeper Anai Olmedo was awarded Goalie of the Year for her stellar performance, tallying 54 saves and maintaining an average of 0.79 goals against per game across 22 matches, amassing 1,825 minutes of play.
The Mounties had a strong presence on the All-SCC North First Team, with freshman midfielder Michelle Vazquez (9 goals, 7 assists), sophomore defender Kayla Medina, sophomore midfielder Yaritza Chavez, and freshman midfielder Noely Rodriguez (10 goals) all receiving the honor. Additionally, four Mounties earned spots on the All-SCC North Second Team: sophomore forward Brianna Bernal (11 goals), sophomore midfielder Vivian Lopez, sophomore defender Leilani White, and freshman forward Eden Ramirez (10 goals).
The No. 6-seeded Mounties are now preparing to compete in the 3C2A Women's SoCal Regional Playoffs, which kick off on Wednesday, November 20. Mt. SAC will host the winner of Santiago Canyon (11-4-5) versus Mt. San Jacinto (10-7-5) at home.
