(Walnut, CA) One week after a closely contested game that Mt. SAC won, the Mounties (13-2-4, 8-0-2) handed Compton (5-7-3, 3-5-1) a resounding 5-0 defeat in the opening round of the South Coast Conference Tournament on Friday.

Deanna Rojas (two goals, three assists), Alyssa Williams (two goals, one assist), and Kaylee Gutierrez (one goal, one assist) spearheaded the Mt. SAC offense.

Yadira Fernandez (20 minutes, one save) and Leila Peregrina (70 minutes, three saves) combined in goal to keep the visiting Tartars scoreless.

Ranked No. 9 in the state, the Mounties will host a yet-to-be-determined opponent on Tuesday, Nov. 9.
