Mounties Dominate SCC Honors, Claim No. 1 Seed in South Region

Walnut, Calif. – The state's No. 1-ranked team, Mt. San Antonio College, captured their sixth consecutive South Coast Conference North Division title, continuing a run of dominance that has defined the program for the better part of a decade.

The defending 3C2A State Champions have their sights set on another title after an outstanding 27-1 regular season. Mt. SAC enters the postseason riding a 20-game winning streak and has now won 41 straight SCC North Division games dating back to 2020.

The Mounties' success has been powered by a balanced attack, finishing second in the state in defense and fourth in offense, overwhelming opponents on both ends of the floor. The result: an average margin of victory of 36.2 points per game.

As expected, postseason honors were filled with Mounties. Mt. SAC placed nine players on the All-SCC North Division Team and swept the conference's top individual awards. Taliyah McFerson was named Player of the Year, Tierra Taylor earned Freshman of the Year honors, and head coach Brian Crichlow collected his sixth consecutive Coach of the Year award.

Several Mounties also earned All-SCC North Division recognition for their outstanding play throughout the season. Elizabeth Udeze, a sophomore guard, averaged 12.8 points per game while leading the conference with 5.9 assists and adding 5.5 rebounds per contest. Dylan Tse, also a sophomore guard, paced the perimeter attack with 13.3 points per game and 64 three-pointers on the season. Naomi Acuna contributed 6.3 points per game as another key piece of the Mounties' offense.

On the Second Team, freshman guard Makayla Haddock averaged 7.3 points per game in a strong debut season. Sophomore forward Janessa Rodriguez added 4.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, while fellow sophomore forward Armani Owens chipped in 4.6 points per contest, helping anchor a balanced and relentless lineup.

Mt. SAC earned the No. 1 seed for Southern California Regionals, which begin on Wednesday, February 25. The Mounties will open postseason play at home on Saturday, February 28, facing the winner of the first-round matchup between No. 16 Santa Ana and No. 17 San Diego Mesa.

With momentum, depth, and championship experience on their side, the Mounties now turn their focus toward defending their state title and continuing one of the most dominant runs in program history.
