Walnut, Calif. – Game after game, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Basketball Team lets their talent speaks for itself. Friday was no exception, as the Mounties steamrolled Rio Hondo 92–33 on January 23. With the win, Mt. SAC improves to 21–1 overall and 2–0 in conference play, while the Roadrunners fall to 11–11 (1–1).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Dylan Tse set the tone immediately, knocking down a three-pointer to open the game. Layups from Taliyah McFerson, Elizabeth Udeze, and Naomi Acuna followed, and just like that, the Mounties acquired a 15–0 lead.

Rio Hondo finally got on the board with a free throw from Alicia Lara, followed by jumpers from Adrienne Bausely and Miranda Morales. But Mt. SAC quickly answered with a layup from Armani Owens and a pair of free throws from Tierra Taylor. By the end of the first quarter, the Mounties were leading 31–7.

Mt. SAC kept piling it on in the second quarter, adding 21 more points. Taylor scored five—including a three-pointer—while Udeze and Leiayjah Mills each chipped in four. Tse was active on the glass, pulling down four rebounds in the quarter. Rio Hondo struggled to find rhythm, scoring just 11 points and grabbing five rebounds in the period, as the Mounties headed into halftime with a 52–18 advantage.

The Mounties came out of the break a bit cold, posting their lowest-scoring quarter of the game with 13 points, nine of which came from Udeze. Even so, Mt. SAC still outscored Rio Hondo, who managed just eight points in the third, half of them from Brooklyn Romero.

But the Mounties finished strong with a 27-point fourth quarter. Mills led the way with eight points, including two shots from beyond the arc, while Udeze dished out five assists to orchestrate the offense. The Roadrunners added just seven points in the final frame as the Mounties cruised to the finish line.

Statistically, the Mounties dominated across the board, shooting 50.7% from the field compared to Rio Hondo's 26.0% and a nearly perfect 93.8% from the free-throw line versus 23.5%. Mt. SAC totaled 52 rebounds and 29 assists while committing just 14 turnovers. Rio Hondo finished with 27 rebounds, eight assists, and 28 turnovers.

The disparities were massive in nearly every category, including points off turnovers (30–2), second-chance points (21–1), points in the paint (54–4), and fast-break points (30–0). The Mounties' largest lead of the night ballooned to 60 points.
