Walnut, Calif. – That's 20 wins and counting for the Mt. SAC Women's Basketball Team as they opened conference action with an easy 82-49 victory over East Los Angeles College on Wednesday, January 21. The Mounties improve to 20-1 on the season and 1-0 in South Coast Conference action, while the Huskies fall to 11-10 (0-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

This game belonged to Mt. SAC from start to finish as the Mounties jumped out to a 9-0 lead behind a three-pointer from Dylan Tse, layups from Taliyah McFerson and a jumper from Elizabeth Udeze. The Huskies eventually found their way to the hoop with free throws from Moriah Mosley and a layup from Jocelyn Garcia to get points on the board. Free throws from Armani Owens and a finish from Alexis Brown capped a dominant first quarter, as the Mounties closed the frame with a 21–9 advantage.

ELAC opened the second quarter with jumpers from Jade Fernandez and Mosley, but Mt. SAC quickly slammed the door. Layups from McFerson, Udeze, and Leiayjah Mills fueled another scoring surge before Tse knocked down another three of the night to send the Mounties into halftime with a 44–20 lead.

Tse picked up right where she left off, opening the second half with another shot from beyond the arc, while McFerson banked layup after layup. Sarah Ramos kept fighting for the Huskies, scoring eight points in the third quarter, but Mt. SAC's balance and depth kept the margin wide. The Mounties led 67–33 heading into the final period.

The Huskies put together their strongest quarter offensively, opening with a layup from Ramos as Oliva Paramo added a pair of jumpers. But the outcome was never in doubt. Tierra Taylor responded with back-to-back three-pointers, and Mt. SAC closed out the night with an 82–49 victory.
