Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Basketball Team outplayed Sacramento City on Saturday, November 16, securing a decisive 79-41 win. The victory improved the Mounties' record to 4-1, while Sacramento City fell to 3-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mounties set the pace early, jumping to a commanding 19-9 lead in the first quarter. Destiny King's aggressive play, highlighted by a three-pointer and a pivotal steal leading to a layup, energized Mt. SAC's offense. Daisia Mitchell made her presence felt with key rebounds, a three-pointer, and timely assists, while Alana Diaz and Ryann Riddle added points to extend the gap. Sacramento City faced difficulties with turnovers and missed opportunities, allowing Mt. SAC to dominate defensively and maintain a 31-19 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Mounties continued their momentum with Diaz making a quick layup and a block to set the tone. King and Taliyah McFerson bolstered the offense with key baskets, as Mt. SAC converted turnovers into fast-break points. On the boards, Elizabeth Udeze and Mitchell secured critical rebounds, ensuring Sacramento City had limited second-chance opportunities. Despite some free throws from Joyce Mulumba and layups by Kamaya Jones, Sacramento City couldn't find their offensive rhythm, while Mt. SAC cruised to a dominant 79-41 victory.
