(Valley Glen, CA) Mt. San Antonio College improved its record to 6-2 with a 76-48 win over Cypress College (2-6) in the Los Angeles Valley College Tournament opening round on Thursday, Dec. 7.
The Mounties never trailed from start to finish, though the Chargers did manage to tie the game once midway through the first quarter.
Daisia Mitchell tallied a game-high 20 points for Mt. SAC while grabbing seven rebounds, making four steals and blocking three shots. Teammate Isabella Roderick added 19 points and six rebounds while blocking two shots. Alana Diaz contributed 11 points and six rebounds to the victory off the bench.
The Mounties outplayed Cypress in several team categories, including rebounds (50-25), second-chance points (15-2), and points in the paint (36-18).
Mt. SAC will face a yet-to-be-announced opponent in the second round of the tournament on Friday, Dec. 8.
