Mt. SAC Women's Basketball claims third straight SCC North title with win over Rio Hondo

(Whittier, CA) Mt. San Antonio College (20-7, 7-0) captured the South Coast Conference North Division title with a 70-54 win over host Rio Hondo College (15-11, 4-2) on Friday, Feb. 10. This is the third consecutive season that the Mounties have claimed the North Division title.

In a game that included nine lead changes and seven ties, Mt. SAC pulled away from the Roadrunners in the fourth behind seven points from Dailani Richardson and four each from Kamesha Moore and Jamya Mickens.

On the night, Richardson led the Mounties with 18 points while grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds, as Moore and Mickens added 14 points each. Kameria Piggee added 11 points in the winning effort.

Rio Hondo's Rosalie Avalos led all players with 22 points.

Mt. SAC outplayed the Roadrunners in several key team categories, including rebounds (39-18), second-chance points (15-0), and points in the paint (32-26).

The Mounties will conclude their regular-season schedule with an SCC North game at Los Angeles Trade Tech College (13-13, 2-4) on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 5 p.m. Mt. SAC came away with a 66-52 win when the teams met back on Jan. 27.

In the most recent California Community College Sports Information Association state poll, the Mounties are ranked No. 10. In addition, they are ranked No. 4 in the current California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association South Region Poll.
