Women's Basketball fall to Sierra, 81-37, in Tip-Off Championship

(Walnut, CA) Aiming to capture its 15th Tip-Off Tournament Championship, the Mt. SAC Women's Basketball team was overwhelmed by the hot shooting of Sierra College, 81-37, in the 25th Annual Linda G. Smith Memorial Tourney Sunday, November 7.

Sierra ranked No. 2 in the CCCWBCA Preseason Poll (Northern Region), came out fast in the opening quarter with a 21-2 score and built up a 41-14 halftime lead, and never looked back.

Mt. SAC (2-1), ranked third in the CCCWBCA Southern Region, was led by sophomore guard Savanna Norfleet (2-4 3Pt, 5-9 FGM, 2 Stls.) with 13 points. Sophomore guard Allyah Cartajena (8 RB) added eight points.

Sierra (3-0) scored the long-range nets with 30 points (10-22), while the Mounties were only 3-15 and the Wolverines were 7-8 (87%) at the free-throw line and Mt. SAC was only 6-19 (31%).

The Mounties begin non-conference action Wednesday (Nov. 11) as they host San Diego Mesa (0-1).
