(Lancaster, CA) In the opening round of the Antelope Valley College Holiday Classic, Mt. SAC (8-4) turned a two-point halftime lead into a 66-51 win over host Antelope Valley (3-7) on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Allyah Cartejena and Taylor Shelby led the Mounties with 14 points each, with teammate Lauryn Manns,  adding 13 more. Cartejena also led the team with 10 rebounds.

As a team, Mt. SAC outrebounded the Marauders, 47-41, and outscored them in bench points, 27-14.

Antelope Valley's Niyah Page led all players with 23 points.

The Mounties will advance to the second-round to take on Moorpark (10-1) this Friday, Dec. 20, at 5 p.m. Last month (11/15) the Raiders defeated Mt. SAC, 68-60.
