(San Jacinto, CA) In the opening round of the El Camino College Crossover Challenge Tournament, Mt. SAC (13-4) scored a 52-37 win over host and defending state champion Mt. San Jacinto (12-5) on Saturday.
Kiara Stiger led the Mounties with a game-high 12 points while teammates Alexis Sanchez and Natalia Shpegel added nine points each. Jade Hughes grabbed 12 rebounds for Mt. SAC and blocked five shots while scoring eight points. Lauryn Manns also scored eight points in the winning effort.
Haylei Janssens led Mt. San Jacinto with 10 points.
Mt. SAC led at halftime, 26-21, and never looked back in the second half.
Saturday's win is Mt. SAC's fifth straight and seventh in its last eight. The Mounties will host El Camino (12-4) in the next round of the tournament on January 9th at 6 p.m.
