Women's Basketball Team huddle

(Pasadena, CA) For the first time in over 18 years, the Mt. SAC Women's Basketball team has dropped two games in the South Coast Conference.

After a tough buzzer-beater loss last week to East Los Angeles College, the Mounties were defeated for the second straight game, an 88-51 setback to Pasadena City College on Wednesday night in the SCC North.

With the loss the Mounties are 17-6 overall and 1-2 in conference.

Mt. SAC, which has been without leading scorer and rebounder Jonnae Vermillion since January 12, was led by guard Deja Siaki (4 of 7 FT, 2 Blks.) with 20 points, which included four 3-pointers.

Also scoring in double figures for the Mounties was guard Tiana Douglas (5 of 9 FT, 6 RB, 3 Steals, 2 Blks.) with 11 points. Guard Dominique McLaughlin (3 RB, 3 Assts., 2 Steals) added eight points.

After a close first quarter with the Mounties leading by three points, 25-22, PCC took a 45-38 halftime lead and never looked back.

With only 13 points scored in the second half by the Mounties, the Lancers pulled away with 43 points after the break and the 37-point win.

Mt. SAC travels to Rio Hondo on Friday for a conference game against the Roadrunners. Tipoff is at 5 p.m.
