Softball Team Huddle

(Pasadena, CA) After building up a four-run lead, the Mt. SAC Softball Team held off a seventh-inning Pasadena City College rally for a 6-5 South Coast Conference North win Thursday afternoon.

Mt. SAC's Briana Wheeler pitched her fourth complete-game in a row and won her seventh game without a loss.

With the Mounties leading 6-2 in the seventh inning, the Lancers rallied for three runs to pull within one.  With a runner on third with two outs, Wheeler picked up her sixth strikeout of the game by getting the batter looking to end the game. Leading the Mounties with two hits apiece was third baseman Ciara Granado (2-4, 2 R, 4 RBIs, 2 HRs) and second baseman Amanda Esquivel (2-3, Sac).

The big blows of the game for the Mounties were a pair of two-run homers by Granado in the first and fourth innings for a 6-2 lead.

The Mounties takes a brief break from conference play with a game at Santa Ana on Friday, March 2. They will return home on Tuesday with a conference game against Chaffey College. Game time is 5:00 pm.
