San Luis Obispo, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Track & Field Team put together a powerful all-around performance at the SoCal Regional Multi Championships, placing three athletes in the top six and racking up 19 team points at Cuesta College. The demanding two-day event, made up of 10 disciplines, tested everything from speed and strength to technique and endurance—and the Mounties rose to the challenge in a big way.
Freshman standout Taiyo Ishiguro led the charge with a commanding first-place finish, piling up an impressive 6,668 points and adding 10 to the team total. Ishiguro showed off his versatility across the board, taking first in the long jump (21' 9"), 110-meter hurdles (15.30), and javelin. And that javelin mark? A massive 199' 4"—blowing past the rest of the field and outdistancing the runner-up by more than 40 feet in a jaw-dropping performance.
Not far behind him in the standings, Jadan Williams delivered a huge meet of his own, finishing third overall with 6,371 points and earning six team points. Williams soared to first place in the pole vault with a clearance of 14' 7.25" and added a second-place finish in the discus (123' 4"), showcasing his strength in both technical and field events.
Kase Schaffeld rounded out the Mounties' top performers, placing sixth overall with 5,805 points and contributing three more points to the total. He made his mark in the throwing events, winning the discus with a throw of 137' 1", placing second in the shot put (37' 10.75"), and taking third in the javelin (155' 7") to cap off a strong and consistent showing.
