Los Angeles, Calif. – Going stride-for-stride with some of the top four-year programs in the country, the Mt. SAC Men's Track & Field team turned in an impressive showing at UCLA's highly competitive weekend meets. The Mounties finished tenth overall with 35.5 points across the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival on Friday, March 27, and the Jim Bush Legends Meet on Saturday, March 28.

Facing a stacked field, Mt. SAC held their own as UC Berkeley took the team title with 98.5 points, followed by UCLA with 86 and UC San Diego with 81. The Mounties' depth showed across multiple events, highlighted by strong distance performances and big marks in the field.

Andy Silva led the charge on the track with a fifth-place finish in the 1500 meters, clocking in at 4:00.71. The 10,000-meter group delivered a standout performance as Diego Varela raced to a third-place finish in 31:00.06, with Jonah Botello (fifth, 31:55.66) and Logan Berkley (sixth, 32:24.52) all landing in the top six. Luis Soto added to the distance success with an eighth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:47.01).

The 4x400 relay team of Dillon Thomasson, Johnny Gardner IV, Rashad Martin, and Dylan Ochoa brought strong energy to the meet, finishing fifth with a time of 3:14.50.

Out in the field, the Mounties made some serious noise. Myles Massie delivered a huge performance in the triple jump, taking second place with a mark of 51' 5.75", while also placing ninth in the long jump. Tyrus Murguia added an eighth-place finish in the long jump (23' 0.5"), and Brandyn Wetherspoon secured tenth in the triple jump. Ja'Len Taylor rounded things out in the high jump, tying for fifth with a clearance of 6' 8.75"
