Claremont, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Track & Field team delivered an impressive showing at the 30th Annual Rossi Relays, hosted by Claremont McKenna College on Saturday, February 28.
Competing against 17 schools — the majority four-year programs — the Mounties placed second overall with 63 team points. Cal Poly Pomona claimed the team title with 81 points, while Azusa Pacific finished third with 52.
Jordan Rios led the Mounties in the 400-meter hurdles with a sixth-place finish in 59.52, while Seth Devers followed in eighth at 1:00.71.
Mt. SAC's relay teams also turned in strong performances. The A team of Yannik Berg, Marques Guzman, Chase Menefee and Don Parish III placed fourth in the 4x100 relay with a time of 41.82. In the 4x800 relay, the B squad of Lucas Blevins, Dillon Hightower, Ethan Hufnagel and Andy Silva finished seventh in 7:55.26.
The Mounties added another fourth-place finish in the sprint medley relay, as Berg, Guzman, Parish III and Dillon Thomasson crossed the line in 1:31.58.
Mt. SAC saw standout performances across multiple field events. Tyrus Murguia captured first place in the long jump with a mark of 23' 5.25", while Ethan Johnson added a seventh-place finish at 22' 4.25".
The triple jump was a major highlight for the Mounties, with Michael Danna winning the event at 47' 5.75" and Brandyn Wetherspoon finishing a close second at 47' 5.25". Tommy Larry added a sixth-place mark of 43' 1".
In the throws, Andres Lambarena placed second in the shot put with a toss of 51' 11", while Oluwatoni Babatunde finished fifth at 47' 8" and added a fourth-place finish in the discus (153' 10"). Duke Hemsley took eighth in the hammer throw at 162' 10". Taiyo Ishiguro secured a third-place finish in the javelin with an impressive mark of 197' 0".
In the vertical jumps, Ja'Len Taylor cleared 6' 4.25" to place fifth in the high jump, followed by Samuel Kolody (7th, 6' 2.25") and Jonah Wilson (8th, 6' 0.5"). Caleb Garcia placed sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 14' 11".

The Mounties return to action March 12–14 at the Ben Brown Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton, where they will once again face strong four-year competition. Momentum is building — and the Mounties continue to prove they belong among the best.
