
Walnut, Calif. – Defending their home turf, the Mt. SAC Men's Track and Field Team delivered impressive performances at the Mt. SAC Community College Relays on Saturday, April 12, at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. Mountie athletes secured first-place finishes in six of the nineteen events at the competition, showcasing their depth and dominance across the sport and underscoring their strength as a team.
In the 1500 meters, Jordan Berkley claimed first place with a time of 3:55.16. The 110-meter hurdles saw Ruben Delgado take first place in 14.42 seconds, while Joshua Cervantes finished fourth at 14.92. In the 400-meter hurdles, Nicholas Nocero placed third (55.31), followed closely by Cervantes in fourth (55.36) and Zachary Felix in fifth (55.51). The 3000-meter steeplechase featured a strong showing, with Maximiliano Loera winning the event in 9:58.65. Teammates Alex Figueroa and Dylan Peralta placed fourth (10:15.48) and fifth (10:21.01), respectively. The 4x400 meter relay team—comprised of Nocero, Mentoa Mckenzie, Cervantes, and Kerry Smith—finished in fifth place with a time of 3:22.06.
In field events, Evan Johnson earned fifth place in the high jump with a clearance of 6' 2.75". The pole vault was dominated by Mt. SAC, with Quintin Dukes taking first place (16' 0.75"), Austin Pepito finishing second (15' 5"), Nathaniel Zwisler and Reimius Aceret tying for third and fourth (14' 11"), and Mateo Guerra placing fifth (14' 5.25").
In the long jump, Elijah Crook secured second place with a mark of 21' 8.25", followed by Brandyn Wetherspoon in third (21' 4.25") and Naasir Ainsworth in fifth (21' 2"). Wetherspoon also took first in the triple jump, recording a distance of 47' 7". In the throws, Matthew Ortiz finished fifth in the hammer with a toss of 132' 8", while Taiyo Ishiguro led the javelin event with a first place throw of 186' 3". Josh Mallers added a fourth place finish in the javelin at 147' 5".

The Mounties are now setting their sights on the South Coast Conference Prelims, scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, followed by the South Coast Conference Finals on Saturday, April 26 at Long Beach City College.
