(Mission Viejo, CA) It's safe to say that what the Mt. SAC Men's and Women's Track and Field teams accomplished on May 17 and 18 at Saddleback College in the 3C2A State Championships could take years to happen again.

For the second time in 3C2A Track and Field history, the Mounties Men's and Women's teams have three-peated state titles together.

No team has come close to accomplishing that feat since the women began competing in the state championships in 1977.

The championships are the 14th for both programs at Mt. SAC.

On the men's side, the Mounties (199) finished 85 points ahead of their nearest competitor, Riverside City College (114). Placing third was San Diego Mesa with 74 points.

Mt. SAC led with five first-place finishes, including a 4 x 100 relay (Ryan Rivituso, Jake Jensen, Romello Jenkins, Asani Hampton) championship.

With a double win, freshman Matthew Donis finished first in two long-distance races – the 1,500 and 5,000 meters. The 1,500 win was a state season-best time of 3:49.67, as he took over first place on the final lap.

Hampton, also on the 4 x 100 champion team, had the second-fastest time in state meet history in the 100 meters with a time of 10.16 for first place.

The fourth state track individual winner was Jensen in the 200 meters with a time of 20.81.

The only field event winner for the Mounties was freshman Elijha Ellis in the Triple Jump with a leap of 48-1 ¼ on his sixth and final jump.

The Mounties also added important points with five second-place track finishes, a second and third in the Triple Jump, and a third place in the Decathlon.
