Mountie Men's Track & Field dominates at Mt. SAC Relays

(Walnut, CA) A total of 23 athletes from Mt. San Antonio College turned in top-three performances at the 19-event community college portion of the 2024 Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday, April 13. Of those 23, 12 took first place, six finished second, and five came in third.

First-place finishes for the Mounties on the track came from Caleb Harrell (100 meters), Asani Hampton (200 meters), Romello Jenkins (400 meters), Santiago Orozco (800 meters), and Matthew Donis (1500 meters) the 4x100 relay team (Drew Hill, Jake Jensen, Jenkins, Hampton), and the 4x400 relay team (Paton, Jaylend Howard, Thomas Scrofano, Jenkins). Top field event finishes came from Ricardo Trujillo (pole vault), Quintin Dukes (pole vault), Devin Paton (long jump), Terrence Sweetman (triple jump), and Dominic Tubbs (javelin).

Elijha Ellis (long jump), Paton (400 hurdles), Howard (400 meters), Jensen (100 meters, 200 meters), and Joel Fischer (5000 meters) accounted for Mt. SAC's second-place performances.

Third-place honors for the Mounties went to Elijah Dinneweth (5000 meters), Reid Lockliear (110 hurdles), Nicholas Nocero (400 hurdles), Pablo Nunez (pole vault), and Jerry Roberts (long jump).

Of particular note, Mt. SAC athletes occupied the top five spots in the pole vault and the top six spots in the long jump.

The Mounties will now prepare for the South Coast Conference Prelims on Tuesday, April 23, and the SCC Finals on Saturday, April 27. Both competitions will take place at El Camino College.
