Mt. SAC Men's Track and Field takes second at RCC Invitational

(Riverside, CA) In a 12-school field, the Mt. San Antonio College Men's Track and Field team tallied 187 points, good enough for second place at the RCC Invitational at Riverside City College on Friday, March 3. RCC finished first with 205 points and UC Riverside came in third with 128.

In 19 meet events, Mountie athletes took first in four, second in five, and third in seven.

First-place finishes included Elijah Ocegueda (1500 meters), Brad Riehl (400-meter hurdles), Ethan Amata (pole vault), and Marcus Moore (long jump).

Jered Beasley (pole vault), Monroe (high jump), Nathaniel Waggener (400-meter hurdles), Nick Felix (400 meters), and Christian Baker (110-meter hurdles) accounted for Mt. SAC's second-place finishes.

Third-place postings turned in by Mounties included Thomas Scofano (400 meters), Joshua Cervantes (400-meter hurdles), 4x100 relay Squad A (Namir Hemphil, Kerry Smith, Robert Thompson, Donovan Stewart), Justin Beltran (pole vault), Collin Orlando (pole vault), Garren Haynes (long jump), and Tylor Connelly (hammer).

Of particular note, Mt. SAC competitors occupied the top five spots in the 400-meter hurdles.

The Mounties will next compete in the Ben Brown Invitational at California State University Fullerton on Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11. The team's distance runners will participate in the Occidental Distance Carnival at Occidental College on Saturday, March 11.
