The Mounties were led by a strong finish from the pole vaulting squad who took 7 of the 8 scoring places, for an incredible 31 points in that single event.  Freshman Kyle Beck took the championship with a leap of 16'08"3/4 (5.10M), defeating favorite and state leader Jett Gordon of Golden West College.  An amazing 1 foot season improvement from 15'03" to 16'03" for freshman, Christian Mueller, put him into the 3rd spot.  The Mounties also claimed the 4th through 8th slots and will take 7 of the 12 spots at next weeks CCCAA State Championships, a historical feat that has never happened before.

Mt. SAC also excelled in the men's horizontal jumps, where the team scored a combined 29 points in the long and triple jumps.

Kevin Herrera (5,000M, 15:14.30), Jasher Foster (110M Hurdles, 14.29) and the 4X100M Relay also captured individual event SoCal titles.

On the women's side, the Mounties scored in the triple digits (117 points), taking second to defending SoCal and state champion Cerritos College, who scored 195 points for the win.  Mt. SAC was led by sophomore Kieana Butler who captured the 100M (11.77), 200M (24.38) and was a member of the 2nd place, 4X100M Relay Team (46.31).  Butler was the lone individual event winner for the Mounties.

The Mounties will conclude the 2017 season at the CCCAA State Championships on Friday and Saturday (05/19-05/20) at American River College (Sacramento, CA).  The men's team has advanced 28 individuals and both relay teams, while the women's team advances 19 individuals and both relay teams.
