Track and Field Program Advances 79 Entries Into CCCAA SoCal Championship Finals

(Riverside, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams advanced athletes into 37 of 42 possible events at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Track and Field Championship Finals.  The Mounties advanced a total of 79 individuals (44 men, 35 women) in various events.  The men advanced a student-athlete in every event with the exception of one event.

At the SoCal Prelims, Toure McCully (110M Hurdles, 14.62), Miles Poulard (High Jump, 6'09"), Sarah Dunmore (100M, 11.66), Terris Williams (High Jump, 5'01"), Rebecca Carey  (High Jump, 5'01") and vaulters Tiziana Ruiz, Deirdre Mercado, Shastee van der Wyk and Felicia Piris (Pole Vault, 10'00"3/4) all posted the top qualifying marks in their respective events.  Both Men's and Women's 4X100M Relay Teams also posted the fastest qualifying marks of the day at 40.97 and 46.51.

The CCCAA SoCal Championship Finals will be held this Friday and Saturday, May 9th and 10th, at Riverside Community College.  The top individuals in the running events (Top 4, 100M to 800M; Top 6 all other running events) and the top 6 in the field events will qualify for the CCCAA State Track and Field Championships which will be held at Historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium on Friday and Saturday, May 16th and 17th.
