Mounties Pile Up Points in First-Place Finish

Walnut, Calif. – The Mountie Men's Swim and Dive Team once again showed their strength with an impressive first place finish at the Mt. SAC Invite No. 2, hosted at the Aquatics Center on Friday, April 3. The Mounties racked up an impressive 1,288 points, well ahead of Riverside City College (803.5) and Long Beach City College (213).

It was a complete team effort from start to finish. Mt. SAC totaled eight first-place finishes, 12 runner-up finishes, and 12 third-place finishes. With 109 total entries, the Mounties also recorded 48 personal bests and 14 season best times—another sign that this team is hitting its stride as they prepare for the SCC Championships and 3C2A State Championships.

Lincoln Jones once again had a standout performance, winning the 400 IM in a season-best 4:00.32 while also placing second in both the 200 fly (1:54.15) and 100 breast (58.84). Kai Anolin added a first-place finish in the 100 IM with a personal-best 53.94 and followed it up with a second-place finish in the 100 free (47.27), also a personal best.

Cooper Golling took the top spot in the 1650 free with a time of 16:14.30, while adding a second-place finish in the 200 IM and third in the 100 IM. Luke Marsden contributed across multiple events, finishing second in the 200 breast (season-best 2:08.54) and third in both the 200 IM and 100 free.

Michael Lu turned in a strong showing in the backstroke events, winning the 200 back in a season-best 1:58.70 and placing second in the 100 back (54.42), also a season best. Ethan Lopez added two runner-up finishes in the 100 IM and 100 fly, with his fly time marking a season best.

The 200 free relay team of Kai Anolin, Luke Marsden, Jacob Carlson, and Aidan Staton took first place with a time of 1:25.49.

With momentum building, the Mounties now turn their focus to the SCC and Regional Diving Championships on Friday, April 10 at Riverside City College, looking to carry this strong form into postseason competition.
