Mounties Finish Third at Cuesta Super Invite

San Luis Obispo, Calif. – After three days at the highly competitive Cuesta Super Invite, the Mt. SAC Men's Swim and Dive Team delivered a strong showing, finishing third overall out of 22 colleges with 737.5 points. Northern California programs Cuesta and American River claimed the top two spots with scores of 982 and 898 respectively.

The Mounties left the meet with an impressive medal haul, collecting three gold medals, nine silver medals, and seven bronze medals by the end of the weekend. Mt. SAC entered 237 total races, recording 81 personal-best times along with 14 season-best performances, highlighting the depth and continued improvement across the roster.

Leading the charge was the versatile Lincoln Jones, who delivered an outstanding meet for the Mounties. Jones captured first-place finishes in the 100-yard IM (53.44) and the 200-yard IM (1:53.19) while also adding three runner-up finishes in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:06.67), 50-yard backstroke (25.12), and 200-yard backstroke (1:50.29). His performance in the 200 backstroke set a new Mt. SAC school record. Jones also picked up a third-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly (23.99) to round out an impressive weekend in the pool.

Several other Mounties contributed podium finishes throughout the meet. Ethan Lopez placed second in the 100 IM (56.36) and second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.31), while Cooper Golling secured third place in the 100 IM (56.58). Luke Marsden added a pair of medals with second place in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.84) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.41). In the distance events, Ethan Decker placed second in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:12.15), followed closely by teammate Ethan Darmon, who earned third place in 17:20.94. Aidan Staton also contributed a third-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly (23.99).

The Mounties also made their presence felt in the relay events. The Mt. SAC A team of Lincoln Jones, Luke Marsden, Ethan Lopez, and Aidan Staton captured first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.53, while the Mt. SAC C team of Ryder Upshaw, Luka Pavicevic, Cooper Golling, and Jacob Carlson placed third in 1:40.12. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Mounties' A team of Tim Chun, Aidan Staton, Kai Anolin, and Luke Marsden finished second overall with a time of 1:28.47.

With strong individual performances and standout relay results across the board, the Mounties proved they can compete among the top programs in the state as the season continues.

The Mounties will host Cerritos and Rio Hondo for a conference meet on Friday, March 13, beginning at 9:00 AM.
