Mounties Break Records, Cruise to Team Title at 40th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational

Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Swim & Dive Team continues to tear through the season, capturing first place out of 21 schools at the 40th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational held February 27–28. The Mounties ran away with the team title, posting a dominant 1,063.5 points — well ahead of second-place Cuesta (735.5) and third-place Sierra (525).

Across the two-day meet, Mt. SAC earned nine first-place finishes, nine second-place finishes and six third-place finishes. Out of 176 total entries, the Mounties recorded an impressive 71 personal-best swims and 25 season-best marks. Even more notably, they set five new meet records in a statement performance at their home invitational.

The medal count was staggering. Lincoln Jones led the way with six gold medals and three silver medals. Luke Marsden added four gold medals and four silver medals. Leon Mikulski contributed two gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals. Ethan Lopez earned one gold, one silver and one bronze, while Cooper Golling secured one gold medal and three silver medals.

Record-breaking swims highlighted the weekend. Marsden set a meet record in the 50 breaststroke with a personal-best time of 25.69 and added another meet record in the 100 IM with a season-best 52.98. The 400 medley relay team of Jones, Marsden, Aidan Staton and Mikulski shattered a meet record with a winning time of 3:25.97, and the 800 free relay team of Golling, Mikulski, Marsden and Jones added another meet record with a first-place finish in 6:58.17.

Individually, Jones claimed victories in the 200 IM (1:54.40, season best), 100 back (51.62, season best), 400 IM (4:04.36) and 200 breast (2:07.05, season best), while also contributing to multiple relay podium finishes.

Mikulski placed second in both the 1650 free (17:02.71) and 500 free (4:48.15, season best) and added a third-place finish in the 400 IM (4:14.33).

Lopez secured a first-place finish in the 200 fly with a season-best time of 1:56.52, and Golling added a strong second-place showing in the same event at 2:01.01.

The Mounties also saw strong performances in relay competition, earning second-place finishes in the 200 relay (1:33.68), 200 free relay (1:25.28) and 400 free relay (3:10.50), while the B team took third in the 400 free relay (3:16.99).

In diving, Jenner Bautista placed third in both the 1-meter (161.35 points) and 3-meter (160.60 points) events.

From record-setting swims to overwhelming team depth, the Mounties had an incredibly successful weekend while also defeating Sierra College, El Camino College and Pasadena City in separate meets.

The Mounties will next travel to the Cuesta Invitational on March 5–6, carrying serious momentum as the season continues.
