Mounties Dominate Five-Time Defending State Champion Sierra College in Dual Meet

Walnut, Calif. – In a highly anticipated dual swim meet, the Mt. SAC Men's Swim and Dive Team delivered a statement performance, defeating five-time defending state champion Sierra College, 160-57, on Thursday, February 26.

The Mounties racked up 11 first-place finishes, eight second-place finishes, and five third-place finishes while recording an impressive 28 personal bests and 20 season best performances in the dominant victory.

One of the most exciting moments of the day came in the 200 Medley Relay, where Mt. SAC A edged Sierra A by just one-hundredth of a second.

Mt. SAC's A team — Lincoln Jones, Luke Marsden, Cooper Golling, Aidan Staton, and Kai Anolin — touched the wall first in 1:36.10, narrowly defeating Sierra's 1:36.11 finish in a photo finish.

The Mounties later secured another relay victory in the 200 Free Relay, finishing first in 1:27.16 with the same group of swimmers.

Mt. SAC dominated the distance and individual medley events, led by Cooper Golling's first-place finish in the 500 Free with a time of 4:46.79. Lincoln Jones followed in second at 4:51.47, while Leon Mikulski placed third in 4:56.78 to complete the sweep. Jones also captured the 200 IM title in 1:57.53, with Max Wang finishing second in 2:07.05. Luke Marsden added another victory in the 100 IM, clocking a season-best 53.27.

The Mounties were equally strong in the sprint freestyle events. Aidan Staton claimed first in the 50 Free with a time of 22.03, and Kai Anolin followed with a personal-best 22.35 to take second. In the 100 Free, Anolin secured first place with another personal-best performance of 48.33. Jacob Carlson finished second in 48.70, and Mario Rodriguez-Carreon recorded a personal-best 49.49 to round out the top finishes.

In the stroke events, Marsden earned his second win of the meet in the 100 Breast with a season-best time of 58.53. Connor Keith placed second in a personal-best 1:00.24, and Luka Pavicevic finished third in 1:03.42. Jones added another first-place finish in the 100 Back (53.68), while Michael Lu posted a season-best 54.54 to take second. In the 100 Fly, Staton finished second in 52.54, and Ethan Lopez recorded a season-best 53.39 to place third. Golling also picked up a victory in the 200 Free, touching first in 1:46.30.

The Mounties were solid on the diving board, with Jenner Bautista taking first place with 172.58 points and Jeremiah Hoil finishing second with 119.03 points.

With depth across every event and standout performances in both individual and relay races, Mt. SAC showcased why they remain a force — and sent a strong message against one of the state's premier programs.
