(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Swimming team won 13 events en route to its eighth South Coast Conference title in the last 11 competitive seasons.

No SCC championships were held in 2020 and 2021, and Long Beach City College won the title in 2022 by a mere two points.

The big winners of the championships were sophomores Eric Yeh (100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, and 100 Freestyle) and Samuel Slezak (200, 500, and 1650 Free) with three firsts. Setting a conference record in the 200 Breaststroke was sophomore Markus Stegbuchner, who also won the 100 Breast.

Yeh and Slezak were named Co-SCC Athletes of the Year, along with head coach Marc Ruh being named Co-Coach of the Year and Lani Ruh Assistant Coach of the Year.

The championship, the team's 12th since 2003, was held at Mt. SAC with six teams competing. Mt. SAC finished with 916 points, followed by second-place Long Beach (754) and third-place El Camino (570).

Two long-standing records were broken by the Mounties. The 17-year-old 200 Breaststroke mark was broken by Stegbuchner with a time of 2:02.58. Even longer was the 27-year 200 Medley Relay mark set by Mt. SAC's team of Luke Pedroche, Stegbuchner, Yeh, and Ray Chun.

Other first-place finishes by the Mounties were: 400 Medley Relay team (Pedroche, Yeh, Stegbuchner, Chun) and Dylan Liu (3-Meter Diving).

Next up for Mt. SAC is the 3C2A State Championships to be held at Orange Coast College, May 2-4.
