(Torrance, CA) In a non-scoring event Friday February 9, the Mt. SAC Men's Swimming team finished first in all the events at the South coast Conference Pentathlon held at El Camino College.

"Both the men and women swam great," Mt. SAC Men's Swimming coach Marc Ruh said. "This was a non-scoring meet, in essence, a training meet in which every kid swims five events plus two relays.

"The meet also gives everyone a chance to see what the conference looks like going into the season."

The athlete of the day was Mt. SAC sophomore Eric Yeh, who won four individual events and was a part of the first-place 200 yard Medley Relay, which also included Luke Pedroche, Stegbuchner and Ray Chun.

Yeh finished first in the 200 Individual Medley (1:58.69), 100 Butterfly (52.66), 100 Backstroke (54.20) and 100 Freestyle (48.67) and was second behind Mt. SAC sophomore Markus Stegbuchner in the 100 Breaststroke. Stegbuchner won with a time of 59.78.

Chun finished second in two events – 100 Breast and 100 Free - along with Pedroche in the 100 Back (3rd) and Jason Matsuda in the 100 Fly (3rd).

"The conference looks very talented on both sides," Ruh added. "There are some great swimmers and great depth on both the men's and women's side of the conference.

"This should be a very exciting year for the conference and based upon what we see already, the conference should have a great showing at the state championships as well."

The South Coast Conference is made up of the following colleges: Mt. SAC, El Camino, Chaffey, Cerritos, East L.A., Long Beach City College, Pasadena City College and Rio Hondo.

Mt. SAC takes a break and will host Sierra College in a dual meet on Thursday, Feb. 29.
