Mt. SAC’s Sebastian Burgos qualifies for CCCAA State 1M and 3M Diving

(Torrance, CA) With the South Coast Conference Swimming Championships set to begin this Thursday (April 20) at East Los Angeles College, the Diving portion took place on Friday (April 14) at El Camino College.

Mt. SAC sophomore Sebastian Burgos qualified for both the 1 Meter and 3 Meter boards among 11 colleges and 19 divers in the CCCAA So Cal's and qualified for the state championships May 4-6 at East L.A. College.

The top eight qualify in each event for the state championships.

Burgos qualified seventh in the 3 Meter with 170.70 points and eighth in the 1 Meter with 158.10. Both events had seven dives.

Competing against the other SCC teams, Mt. SAC finished 1-2-3 in both the 1 Meter and 3 Meter. Burgos finished first in both events, followed by Maximus Sandoval and Ellis Stagg in the 1 Meter and Stagg in second in the 3 Meter and Sandoval in third.   

"It is a really solid day for us, as both teams will go into conference championships this week with a solid point base obtained from the diving events," Swimming and Diving coach Marc Ruh said. "The kids did great.".
