(Pasadena, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Swimming and Diving team is off to a 2-0 start in the South Coast Conference with a sweep of PCC and LA Trade Tech last Friday in a double-dual meet held at the Lancers pool.

Mt. SAC, which defeated the host Lancers, 154-124, was led by a pair of swimmers with two individual first-place finishes and swept all 12 individual and two relays for the 237-26 victory over L.A. Trade Tech.

"This was a very exciting meet," Mt. SAC Swimming and Diving coach Marc Ruh said. "The kids swam extremely well and really came up with some big swims.

Mt. SAC long distance specialist Spencer Chlebowski won the 1,000 yard Freestyle (10:41.13) and 200 Backstroke (2:03.16) and was part of the second-place 200 Medley Relay against PCC.

The other dual-event winner over PCC was Kyle Chang with firsts in the 100 Back (59.09) and 50 Freestyle (22.22). The sophomore also swam the anchor leg of the 400 yard Freestyle Relay.

Distance swimmer Renen Devito placed second in the 200 Free with a time of 1:50.18 and was third in the 500 Free. The sophomore was also a part of the first-place 400 Free Relay team, along with Chlebowski, Zach Justus and Chang.

"Even though we won by 30 points, the meet was extremely close and could have gone the other way if the team doesn't come together," said Ruh of the PCC result.

"Pasadena is always well coached and they have some extremely talented swimmers.

"I think the difference in this meet was our depth. Our kids had to be very focused and execute our plan to the best of their ability."

The depth of the Mountie team also was too much against Trade Tech as they finished ahead in all of the events.

Chlebowski took home three individual firsts (1000 Free, 200 Back and 500 Free) against Trade Tech, while Chang (100 Back and 50 Free) and sophomore Bryan Calderon (100 Breast and 200 IM) had two apiece.
